Our all-weather dining area is perfect for small groups but large enough to seat up to 160 people for larger functions.

Accommodation at Hunter Valley Retreat
From the available rooms we can accommodate 142 Guests or 125 Guests in Individual Beds across 68 Bedrooms*. Options to add additional Bunks, Kids Rollaways, Sofa Beds/ Futons and Floor Beds in Lounge areas and Bedrooms may be an option to increase the capacity, please provide us with your requirements. (Please reach out if you would like an updated configuration for a specific Bedroom:Bathroom Ratio you are working on.)
We do not permit camping onsite however would be open to day visitors coming to the site in addition to staying guests, should you require this.

Facilities at Hunter Valley Retreat
Conference Room Hire
It’s like a rare gem to discover all the facilities of a fully equipped conference centre amidst nature. Just 30 minutes from Newcastle city and 2.5 hour drive north of Sydney. Our main conference room has the capacity to host up to 250 delegates at an affordable price.
Space includes:
- 22m x 11m carpeted conference room.
- Stage
- AV Projector & Screen.
- Lighting Rigg
- Kitchenette
- Tea & Coffee station
- Air-conditioning (heating or cooling)
- Adjoining block of toilets, including disabled access.
- Trestle tables & chairs set to your specifications if needed.
Self-Catering
Our fully-equipped commercial kitchen and dining area is available for exclusive hire if you’d like to bring in your own chef.
You would need to provide a current Food Safety Certificate and Certificate of Currency for business liability or engage a caterer who can supply these to us. Our commercial kitchen includes a cool-room, combi oven, gas stove, dishwasher, dry store area, appliances and cookware. Your attendees can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner in our dining area which will be set to your specifications with tables & chairs.
We can also recommend local caters for your event.

If you need catering for a group of more than 20 people, we can waive the kitchen hire fee and organise the catering for you at a per person meal rate with buffet style service from our dining area.

Onsite Activities at Hunter Valley Retreat
We recommend the facilitation of a traditional Welcome to Country at the commencement of all events at Hunter Valley Retreat. If this appeals to you, please let us know. Click here to learn more about our resident guide and caretaker Aunty Babanginy to facilitate this experience, along with a traditional smoking ceremony and guided walk on the land if desired.
Other on-site activities:
- Campfire – We offer a complimentary Campfire in our common area once during your booking. If you would like additional Campfires this can be added to your booking at $60 per experience.
- Site Games- Table Tennis Table, Volleyball Set, Cricket Set.
- Enjoy the space – Bush setting ideal for meditation / reading / personal exercise
