Imagine golden birch forests, still lakes, wood-fired saunas and a sky that might just light up green. This small-group journey for women takes you from Helsinki to the Arctic edge of Finland, in the quiet, colourful weeks of autumn when the crowds have gone and the north belongs to you.

I’m Erin, your host and I’ve designed this trip around what makes Lapland special: wild nature, Finnish sauna culture, Sámi heritage and slow, nourishing days with good company.

The journey: We begin in Helsinki, where you’ll meet your group and settle into Finnish life. Then we board the Santa Claus Express, the overnight train, and wake up in Lapland. In Rovaniemi we visit Santa Claus Village and cross the Arctic Circle.

From there we head to the Ruka and Kuusamo wilderness, where the forests glow with autumn colour. We walk quiet trails, meet roaming reindeer and spend an evening watching wild bears in their natural habitat. Back at our lakeside base, you’ll find comfort, conversations and unhurried meals.

Next we travel to Ivalo and Inari, the heart of Sámi Lapland. You’ll visit the Siida Museum and learn about Sámi culture, traditions and the people who have lived with this land for thousands of years. We continue to Utsjoki, Finland’s northernmost community, with a day trip over the border into Norway.
